Time To Reflect

by Gumby

Cover by Xx.Eren.xX

Hello Happy New Year

It has been a year, and it feels weird. It is almost like we blinked and the year went by so fast that you did not know what day, what week, or what month it was. I think we may all feel like 2022 flew by compared to the other pandemic years we faced. As we reflect on this year we have spoken to some of our members and asked them about their highs and lows of 2022 and how they were able to overcome them.

Hello there, Captain LadyVoldie. As we all know that these past few years have been rough for the world. As we approach the New Year, what were your Highs and Lows of 2022?

Oh, that is a very good question! I suppose one high AND low was when I got an inheritance after my grandma died in December 2020. I just logged in to my bank to pay bills, and I had 1000 more than I should have. I called my mom and she told me it came from grandma, and I broke down on the phone. It was a good thing, but it happened because of something sad, you know?

I also have to admit that getting into OCS and passing was also high for me, something low was the debt I was in. Ooft. But things are going fine now 😄

Is there anything else that you would reflect on during a better year as of 2022 compared to the other Pandemic years?

Well, fewer restrictions, more vaccinations. Not as many casualties!

Why do you find it important to reflect?

Well, it makes you realize things, depending on what you reflect on. You can learn from the past. c:

Hi 2ndLt PeUS. As you are aware the New Year is coming! It is time to reflect on 2022, what were your Highs and Lows?

My year was quite the journey, I returned to USDF on the 14th of January and by the end of it, I became an officer. My highest point was getting CO SP&C, Into-The-Spotlight, and OCS all within a week.

My lowest point was when I was really overworked due to working nonstop shifts. I made sure to keep my shifts short and concise so I don’t get myself burned out.

Is there anything else worthy of reflection?

The memories I made along the way, the friends and people I’ve been able to connect with

Hello CMDCM reignoff. Time to reflect on the New Year, what were some highs and lows of 2022 for you, and how did you overcome them?

My high was meeting my best friends, even if they live in other parts of the world, they are vital in my life and I don’t know where I would be without them 4. My lows never stop, I still struggle with my demons, but I’m not letting them take over my life.

Why do you find it important to reflect?

Cause even when your world is crumbling down, you need to get up and be strong, not let it take over your life

Hello CW3 NovaMarie97. We are approaching the New Year and we were wondering what were some of your highs and lows of 2022, and how did you overcome them?

Well for USDF, I don’t have any lows but my highs are – joining USDF, being accepted into OPA, becoming OHNCO for the month of November, being offered XO MO, and creating new friendships. I got where I am by setting goals for myself and working my butt off to achieve those goals.

Why do you find it important to reflect?

Me personally, I like to reflect back so I can be more grateful for where I am now. If that makes sense.

Sometimes it’s nice to just know you’re in a better place than you were a year ago.

What were some things that you overcame on a personal level? How is 2023 going to be for you and how are you going to make sure you start your New Year on a positive note? Make sure that you sleep well and hydrate yourself into the New Year. Focus on your health and don’t party too hard now.

I’m proud of them, yet I can’t seem to understand

How did everyone get this far

I was a higher rank than them beforehand

How bizarre?

That girl that just got promoted there

HOOAH well deserved!

She’s worked so hard in Public Affairs

I’m so glad her work is being observed

But they have progressed, and I have not

I’ve done all I can, taken every shot!

What am I not doing right?

I’m literally here working every night!

I need to find a way out of this miserable groove

I need some goals, some inspiration

I need to improve

I know my work matters, and I make people’s day

I am now a part of this community, no longer astray

Now I will never have a doubt

I’ll say my presence matters!

When I’m burnt out

We all have highs, we all have lows,

most of us also have ten toes

Even when my career plateaus,

It’s my personality that really glows.

It’s time to take a breath

when I feel there’s nothing left.

I’m proud of me, and I do understand

I am myself, and I am grande.

Colour of The Year

by CallmynameALT

Cover by -Eils

Let’s talk colours!

Did you know there was a colour for each year? Well, now you do! Chosen by Industry Leaders Pantone each year, a new colour is selected to be the colour for that year and represent it, and in the year 2022, the colour that was chosen is Very Peri. Now, I hear you asking, well what is Very Peri? Very Peri has been described by many as “a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.” Now, there is something uniquely special about this year’s colour and that is it was entirely invented by Pantone specifically to be this year’s colour of the year. This is the first time ever that I have done this, a special colour for a special year indeed.

Very Peri was unveiled as the 2022 Colour of the year in December 2021 and there were certainly some questions asked about why this colour was chosen, just like there is every year. Speaking to the New York Times in that ceremony Laurie Pressman, President of Pantone said this: “This is not a forecast. This is really about what’s happening, and the latest tech has big implications for the future of colour that go beyond mere trends.” Ms Pressman also stated how video gaming is having a big effect on colour with more and more people entering this virtual space “creating avatars and wanting to dress themselves in that way, or creating collections possibly from a palette that could not necessarily be replicated in the real world.” This theme of picking colours based on the events that are happening in real life is not something new to Pantone with their 2021 colour of the year being “Ultimate gray” while the 2020 colour was a “Classic Blue.” Pantone this year has instead decided to choose something to represent the new digital age that our world is entering, and this is a colour we can all get behind.

What about 2023?

Well, the 2023 colour of the year has just recently been revealed by Pantone and as a big hint, they said that we will be entering the “magentaverse.” For 2023, the colour of the year is Viva Magenta. Being described as “An expressive, rebellious hybrid of red and pink—with blue/purple undertones.” Speaking at the launch of Viva Magenta, Ms Pressman had this to say “Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative, an unconventional colour for an unconventional time.”
Viva Magenta also has inspirations from healing. While we have been in a Pandemic for 3 years now, with Climate Change, and war around the world. Viva Magenta is a colour that will cloak us in Power and Grace so that the world can heal from the brutal events of the past, especially those in the past 3 years and the events that are still ongoing within the world. Pantone has once again used real-life events to make sure that we have a colour that truly does represent the world during the year. Do you think that Viva Magenta is a very fitting colour to be chosen for 2023, if not, what type of message would you like to present if you had the chance to choose a colour for the year? I personally hope that 2023 is a year that truly fits the description of Viva Magenta and we can all heal from the past few years. Happy Holidays to you all, let’s all take on the new year with the Power and Grace that Viva Magenta gives to us all. Thank you.

2022 Fashion Trends

2022 has come and gone and with this year has brought many fashion trends! Let’s take a look at the top trends both inside and outside of Habbo.

Hot Looks of 2022: Inside of HabboHot Looks of 2022: Outside of Habbo
1. Holidays
The progressing of a year brought about many holidays and thus themed costumes! From wizards and dino’s for Halloween, to rainbow attire for Pride, and reindeer and sweaters for the winter holidays, this year brought about many amazing and unique looks!

1. Wide Leg Pants
Out are the skinny jeans, this year was all about wide legged pants! These types of pants can go casual or can be dressed up into a cute outfit! My favorite way is to wear with a plaid shirt and cowboy boots to create a stylish look!

(photo grabbed from google, credits to its owner)
2. Dinos and Teletubbies
Costume sets were another popular clothing this year seeing multitudes of people in costumes ranging from teletubbies to snowman and to my favorite, dinosaurs!

2. Loafers
Keep it casual or dress it up with loafers you can do it all! These stylish, comfy shoes were a rage this year! I recommend a comfy pair of loafers for daily wear, they’re easy to slip on and off and lightweight making them an easy pair to wear!

3. Let’s Be Comfy
Another popular attire was all things comfortable! Think sweatshirts and sweaters and slippers! This attire kept Habbo-ians all over warm and cozy while traversing the hotel!

3. Leather
Leather pants, leather jackets, leather shirts and skirts, a popular style that started in the 70s has made a comeback in this year’s roundup. I love to wear a leather bomber jacket with jeans to give off a retro vibe!

USD Education, 1998Hailey1998

What was your favorite USDF moment of 2022?

My favorite USDF moment was developing into the role of USD ED. I would have never thought to make it this far as this was a “COVID Game for me” until everything reopened again. Here I am almost three years later, this game is truly addicting, and you meet great people!

What are some of your portfolio’s greatest achievements of 2022?

OJFD – greatest achievement is the academy overhaul we did within the office. This allowed us to reduce exams and push out for more interaction on client with the command member and personnel.

OOT&E – re-evaluated {W}. This one was a powerful move within the office. At the time we had a large backlog, and not a good success rate with {W}. When appointed as USD ED, I worked alongside the command team and DOT&E at the time to review the value behind it, and how we can turn the success rate around more positively. We were able to make some aspects bonus points to award, and pushed for a no backlog on the exam now and happy personnel!

What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

Honestly building stronger connections with people around me. Allowing for more of an open door and more approachable connections. Retention rates to increase significantly so people have a sense of not feeling alone.

1. What was your favorite USDF moment of 2022?

Favourite moment was using and learning the new court system in OJAG. Also being the first to do conduct a trial – really great moment!

2. What are some of your office/porfolio/branch’s greatest achievements of 2022?

I would say one of OMPs greatest achievement was revitalising the OMPTA Academy, making significant changes to our MITE (transfer exam), and automating the personnel statistics of USDF

3. What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

I am hopeful for changes in our transfer process in 2023, while most procedures made sense in the old generation of USDF they need to be reformed to fit contemporary times

—–

JAG, HumanRevolution

1. What was your favorite USDF moment of 2022?

The favorite moment of 2022 would easily be the USDF vs. GOVBAF war and our victory. It was such a fun time for a lot of people since USDF never faced a war in ages. A lot of people got to experience that side of militaries.

2. What are some of your office/porfolio/branch’s greatest achievements of 2022?

Implementing the court system is easily one of OJAG’s big achievements in 2022. A lot of other internal changes were also made to the way cases are processed, that helps cement a fair trial to everyone. The biggest achievement though, is implementing the NR Review docket through which the Never Rehire status can be appealed.

3. What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

There is nothing immediate that comes to mind, but the office hopes to be ready to head towards greater achievements and maybe branch into conducting more exciting things than just case reviews and trials.

—–

JSIG, ChanelPuccia

My favourite moment would have to be graduating OCS and being commissioned as an Officer.

2) What are some of your office’s greatest achievements of 2022?

Firstly, being appointed as USDF’s 23rd JSIG. I also commanded OJSIG during the war and we assisted USDF as much as possible. As the JSIG, I have made a handful of changes within OJSIG which have encouraged maximum productivity.

3) What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

I am looking forward to continuing to work with the intelligence portfolio to diligently serve USDF to the highest possible standard.

—–

DIRSA, Karturo13

1. What was your favorite USDF moment of 2022?

Hmm a lot of moments but I’m going to go ahead and say making the bet with Beth and Ivan about switching branches during Branch Wars because we got so competitive about it and it was fun. Branch wars is always fun.

2. What are some of your office/porfolio/branch’s greatest achievements of 2022?

OISA greatest achievement would be both of the Expedition Groups hosted on October and December but also got to fill up OISA Command Team successfully which is a great achievement.

3. What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

I hope to bring keep OISA in a stable fashion and continue to work on my subordinates and my own progress so we can all be happy.

—–

(New) DA&M/VCSA, Jaxwindle

1. What was your favorite USDF moment of 2022?

Probably Jared’s retirement party.  Not because he was leaving after an extensive tenure in USDF, but because seeing all the camaraderie surrounding him, to hear the stories, and to wish him well in his retirement was just tip of the spear for me.

2. What are some of your office/porfolio/branch’s greatest achievements of 2022?

For Army, it was the participation in Branch Wars.  To see everyone compete in a friendly environment and bring all the branches together was the ultimate win for me.

3. What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

In 2023, I hope to achieve an OSD position.  I’ve got my sights set on that as I’ve been JSD for a while now and I am ready to take the next step in my career at USDF.

—–

VCMC, Zemerill

1. What was your favorite USDF moment of 2022?

My favourite moment of 2022? Probably when I was appointed to ACMC, JSD has been my goal since early 2022 and after many attempts I was finally able to reach it, and in my home branch as well! Victories really do feel better after you have worked hard for them.

2. What are some of your office/porfolio/branch’s greatest achievements of 2022?

While I have only been in Marines command for a little bit now, we have achieved so much! But my favourite moment for the marines this year has to be when we were crowned the BACK2BACK BRANCH WARS CHAMPIONS MCBC OORAH!

3. What is one thing you are looking forward to/hope to achieve in USDF in 2023?

I want to continue working hard to make the marines the best branch it can be, whether this be through some of the work I complete as ACMC, or simply by continuing to make friends with everyone.

Also, gonna make sure we’re champions 3 years running!
